COPENHAGEN

Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark. For two weeks, this city is the main destination for thousands of people. Great and small, and from all walks of life. The ultimate destination for people with different agenda. Lobyist-both paid and voluntary, head of states and diplomats, scientists and academics, activists and demonstrators, businessmen and spectators including the press gather here to present their views about the most popular agenda of the 21st century that is Global Warming.

At the moment, I personally am not sure what to believe. The two opposing school of thought about the global warming may be right or maybe wrong. While governments of the west (industrialized countries) are very enthusiastic in preaching the idea of everything about "Green"  I don't think they are quite sincere about the impact of this to the poorer countries. I sincrely think that the agenda the western governments are pushing is unfair for the developing countries because the per capita emissions in the developing countries is lower compared to the developed countries.

Keeping a car on the road running on biofuel deprives a lot of people food to keep them alive because the  land used raise food crops are converted to platation producing biofuels. And recently the British prime minister said that a portion of the budget for poverty alliviation will be diverted to fund the green initiatives. It sounds so hypocritical. Surely there is a great price for humanity to pay for the theory that may not even be 100 percent true.

Google Earth opens a new kind of exploration.

The aquisition of the EarthViewer 3D from Keyhole, Inc. offered an enormours advantages to people in every walks of life. Google, as a leading company in information technology offered a great platform for the development and perfection of the creation of the Virtual Globe popularly known as Google Earth.

Google Earth changes the way we look and the way we understand about the planet we live in. It s never been easy to locate our home, our school, our place of work and everything that matters to us. With a few click of the mouse we can see the place we wanted to go and even the the actual picture using street view. The places where only the rich and famous can see or the most remote where only explorers can go, can now be seen by everyone who wishes to see.

A few days ago I was talking to my sister who lives in another part of the world. I asked for her address and I was able to see what kind of neighborhood  she lives in and work. The street view is amazing as if I was there looking through my video camera. She was able to see my place as well.

Looking at my family's neighborhood is not the only thing I do but one of the many things I can do using Google Earth. The main reason for this blog is to share my idea about my personal observation from my travel as well as my "virtual travel" with the air of Google Earth. These maybe socio-political or economic in nature or just plain observation of the interesting place in the world I look into.

Every posting I make will be about a particular place that I am interested about, maybe just a random place that catches my attension or places with significant relevance to particular current world events.
